| | 2010 is off to quite a start. Being a realistic pessimist, I'm cautiously optimistic about some upcoming projects. One project that kicked the year off well for me was the debut of my radio programme Paula's Picks. It's a hybrid show that's part music and part spoken word "open mic".
I would like the show to be a platform, or springboard, for undiscovered spoken word artists (e.g. poets, storytellers). The feedback of the debut show was positive and I hope to continue in that vein.
To that end, I'd like to find poets and/or storytellers who would like to provide audio of either a poem or story. Due to time constraints, I'm seeking stories that are approx. 5 - 7 minutes. I'm willing to consider stories no longer than 10 minutes, however. Poems should be no longer than 7 minutes, because at live events, audiences' attention spans start to wane at about the 6 - 7 minute mark. I don't know that their spans are longer when listening to a reading.
In order to make this a bit more seamless and less stressful for both the artists and m'self, I'm adding this filebox feature to my blog. This should enable artists to submit their work to me, after e-mailing me a query.
